Our chef and our cuisine

Here at the restaurant, our customers will experience with all their senses the traditional flavors of the Maremma: dishes created with vegetables from our garden, our oil, our honey, our meat bred in a semi-wild state here on the farm, and even, with our agricultural beer made 10 meters from the restaurant with barley grown in the fields visible from the terrace where our guests will be welcomed.  We hope to offer a unique experience based on a long history.

Leonardo Giarratano was born in the countryside where he and his family raised poultry and cultivated oil, grapes, fruit and vegetables on a 3-hectare plot. With these ingredients, they made many products from tomato sauce to fruit juice. It is from these experiences that Leonardo learned the flavours, aromas and tastes of genuine products. His cooking is simple; he loves aromatic herbs, dried fruit, legumes, but also the process of slow cooking, as was once the tradition, where the fire embraces the food and the flavours remain inside. Leonardo is a humble and genuine person, like his cuisine. Get to know his dishes and his smile at San Ottaviano.

Together with Leonardo, we are happy to cook for you the flavours of our organic farm and the farms of the Maremma that continue to produce genuine ingredients. We invite you to feel at home inside our restaurant where once the estate's oil was made, or outside on the terrace overlooking the green Val di Cornia. We invite you to savour not only the dishes, but the aromas of the land where our ingredients were grown, and we ask you to take a moment to appreciate the traditions that have created Tuscan cuisine and the products that we continue to cultivate with love to this day.

Below you will find an example of our seasonal menu, subject to changes following the availability of seasonal ingredients. In addition, we offer dishes of the day made with the freshest products of the moment. The list of our partners is also below, where you will find the origins of all the products in our kitchen.



Restaurant hours

Breakfast from 08:00 to 10:30 Breakfast is included in the apartments B&B at San Ottaviano, while it is optional at Podere I Massoni
Light lunch from 12:30 to 14:30 Salads, cheese plates, cold dishes...reservation is required
Aperitif on the terrace from 17:00 to 19:00 Except during the restaurant's day off
Dinner from 19:00 to 21:00 Reservation required
BBQ occasionally During the summer season, we organise BBQs and themed dinners
Takeaway pizza Wednesday During the summer months, once a week, we offer handmade takeaway pizzas in our ancient wood-fire oven: an evening not to be missed! Reservation required

Half-board and full-board
We do not offer the typical half and full-board options as we do not like to oblige our guests to eat a predetermined menu.  For those wishing to dine each evening in the restaurant, we ask only an advanced reservation and your table will be confirmed for the length of your stay.  Our menu has many options from light dishes to hearty meals.
